ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases, initially cancer.  Our products are being designed to herald the transition of adoptive cell therapy from a hospital based treatment to outpatient therapy, like most other cancer treatments.

Our people are our greatest asset, they bring scientific talents in molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, protein chemistry, computational biology, automation, genome engineering, software and other fields to make the future happen now.

The Vice President, Engineering will oversee design, development and operation of automated software and hardware systems for rapid, scalable discovery of novel cell therapies. The role will manage Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, High-Throughput Assays and related functional groups in a matrix team environment, contributing directly to product, platform and infrastructure projects as needed. Together, the Engineering subject-matter experts are responsible for providing design, validation and management of integrated automation solutions throughout the asset lifecycle, as well as technical expertise in data management, scalable assays and high-throughput workflow development. In addition, they are accountable for the development and implementation of design standards and best practices for workflow automation and supporting software. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Software Engineering, Automation Engineering and High-Throughput Assays functions, including creating a vision, strategy and operating model for use of integrated automation solutions throughout the cell therapy development process.
  • Develop capabilities and expertise in all relevant engineering disciplines. Ensure design, validation and operational processes are efficient and effective, and that data acquisition systems built are robust and responsive to the requirements of R&D teams.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to subject-matter experts in Software Engineering, Automation Engineering and High-Throughput Assays, and ensure sufficient expertise to support the organization.
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, play a pivotal role in developing and evolving engineering standards and technology advances. Leverage innovative technologies and tools to anticipate and prepare the organization for future challenges/opportunities in discovery and product development.
  • Keep pace with equipment and engineering industry trends and implications for the business. Ensure innovative, sustainable and cost-effective design and implementation strategies. Develop excellent partnerships with external software and hardware firms to leverage external engineering expertise and services where needed.

  • What You Will Bring

  • PhD or other advanced degree in engineering, informatics, or a related field
  • 10+ years experience developing high-throughput assay and data acquisition workflows utilizing advanced laboratory automation and customized software
  • 8+ years of relevant management experience
  • Proven track-record of technical leadership and achievement
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, hard-working, multi-disciplinary, start-up environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver results
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills and a desire to work collaboratively and lead in a matrix environment
  • Familiarity with cell-based assays, immunology, immuno oncology, integrative genomics and/or mammalian synthetic biology is highly desirable

  • We are committed to hiring the best talent from diverse backgrounds. A diverse workforce engenders richness of thought, creativity and discovery. We invite individuals who embrace intellectual achievement to bring their unique personal and professional journeys and together we will build transformative cell therapies for cancer patients.
