Accelerating and scaling immune cell engineering

Effective application of innovative technology in biological research requires a collaborative and cross-disciplinary mindset.

We are a diverse group of engineers, scientists, and synthetic biologists dedicated to empowering our Discovery and Development organizations through design and deployment of state-of-the-art computational and biological tools.

Senior Scientist - NGS

ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases, initially cancer.  Our products are being designed to herald the transition of adoptive cell therapy from a hospital based treatment to outpatient therapy, like most other cancer treatments.

Our people are our greatest asset, they bring scientific talents in molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, protein chemistry, computational biology, automation, genome engineering, software and other fields to make the future happen now.

We are seeking an outstanding scientist to drive next-generation sequencing methods within ArsenalBio. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of NGS and its applications and a proven track record of developing innovative NGS protocols for solving complex biological problems. As a strong technical contributor, this role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance ArsenalBio research.

What You Will Do

  • Deploy high- and low-throughput NGS library preparation strategies for bulk, single-cell, and multi-omic applications
  • Create NGS libraries from single cells, tissues, and isolated DNA/RNA to further ArsenalBio research and discovery
  • Establish novel NGS methods to extract new types of information from research and clinical samples
  • Help oversee the operation and maintenance of numerous Illumina instruments
  • Participate in the overall management of NGS operations
  • Assist in troubleshooting problematic library preps and sequencing issues
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in storing, tracking, and analyzing NGS data
  • Evaluate new NGS technologies and platforms (e.g. spatial transcriptomics)
  • Identify promising new concepts in scientific publications and lead pilot studies of related experiments
  • Participate in cross-functional collaborations with multiple groups to advance broad company goals and objectives and assist in the design of genomics projects
  • Contribute NGS expertise, leadership, and technical guidance to cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Advance NGS technology utilization and understanding across the company
  • Work closely with computational biologists to interpret NGS data
  • What You Will Bring

  • Ph.D. (preferred) or Masters in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a closely-related field
  • 3+ years of full-time, hands-on NGS experience in an academic or industrial setting
  • Deep understanding of NGS library preparation and the principles of sequencing technologies
  • Previous work with a variety of NGS sample preparation workflows and analysis
  • Experience in high-content screening, single-cell genomics, or functional genomics
  • Significant experience in troubleshooting, method development, and optimization of molecular biology-based assays
  • Strong background in molecular biology and analytical techniques including, PCR/qPCR, ddPCR, molecular cloning, gene editing, enzymatic assays, and nucleic acid isolation and manipulation
  • Experience operating liquid handling robots or other lab automation for high-throughput assays is desired
  • Experience in computational analysis of next-generation sequencing data
  • Managerial experience and/or project management experience
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge on the job, demonstrate productivity and deliver high-quality results
  • We are committed to hiring the best talent. A diverse workforce engenders richness of thought, creativity and discovery. We invite individuals who embrace intellectual achievement to bring their unique personal and professional journeys and together we will build transformative cell therapies for cancer patients.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
