Accelerating and scaling immune cell engineering

Effective application of innovative technology in biological research requires a collaborative and cross-disciplinary mindset.

We are a diverse group of engineers, scientists, and synthetic biologists dedicated to empowering our Discovery and Development organizations through design and deployment of state-of-the-art computational and biological tools.

Binder Discovery Lead

ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases, initially cancer.  Our products are being designed to herald the transition of adoptive cell therapy from a hospital based treatment to outpatient therapy, like most other cancer treatments.  Our people are our greatest asset, they bring scientific talents in molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, protein chemistry, computational biology, automation, genome engineering, software and other fields to make the future happen now.

Our approach requires novel receptors to empower cell therapies to sense their environment and respond as needed to resolve disease states. This role in ArsenalBio’s Binder Discovery group will lead efforts in the design and delivery of binding domains to be deployed on these novel synthetic receptors. In it, you will interface closely with colleagues across ArsenalBio’s Discovery, Development and Technology organizations, as well as external collaborators and thought leaders.

What You Will Do

  • Lead efforts to identify target antigen binders from immune and non-immune repertoires for a portfolio of cell therapy applications
  • Develop capabilities for in vitro display selection and screening of target antigen binders from large libraries
  • Design target antigen immunogens, immunization strategies and single-cell screening workflows with CROs for the identification of novel binders
  • Lead efforts to characterize binder specificity, affinity and epitope diversity in support of downstream synthetic receptor screening
  • Provide expertise on binder discovery and their use in Cell Therapy applications across our broader scientific team
  • Maintain familiarity with the relevant current literature and its application to binder discovery, screening methodologies, synthetic biology and cell therapy
  • Coordinate tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating prioritization and planning
  • Interpret and effectively execute experiments in line with project timelines and goals
  • Recruit and mentor junior scientists and research associates with relevant expertise
  • What You Will Bring

  • PhD in molecular biology, protein engineering or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant research experience in industry or academia
  • Experience with in vitro display library selections and high throughput screening methodologies
  • Experience with rodent immunization strategies and single cell screening methodologies
  • Experience with characterization of target antigen binders, including specificity, affinity, epitope and biophysical properties
  • Working knowledge of antibody and alternative scaffold binder formats
  • Working knowledge of synthetic library design and generation
  • Working knowledge of NGS technologies and workflows
  • Entrepreneurial behaviors demonstrated by agility, accountability, transparency, resourcefulness, and ability to get things done
  • Demonstrated ability to perform as a team player
  • We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status
