Technical Manager

Arsenal Bio is seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Technical Manager of Materials Management to develop, oversee and maintain a GMP/Non-GMP warehouse and inventory management system.  The Materials Management Department effectively and efficiently manages and supports manufacturing and quality goals to ensure manufacturing operations are met.  The Technical Manager of Materials will report to the Head of Materials Management Operations.  In this role you will supervise, lead, and train Materials Management personnel to support manufacturing operations, kitting, product shipping, R&D, clinical development, and component receiving.  

In addition, you will ensure inventory accuracy and timely supply of materials to manufacturing production rooms to meet demands.  Work with department manager to develop and sustain a high-performance team. Using Lean Production System, advanced analytical skills, experience, and systems and process knowledge, anticipate challenges and vulnerabilities in processes or systems and act as a resource to identify and deploy solutions.  Ensure success of Warehouse & Distribution operations by collaborating with the site and network.  In the absence of the Manager, you will assume leadership responsibilities for the Materials Management department.

This is a pivotal and highly visible role that engages with local operations, functions and extended leadership teams on a regular basis.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide guidance to frontline leaders for non-routine issues
  • Provide guidance for the development of frontline leaders and individual contributors to building and sustainment of a high-performance team
  • Ensure a culture of safety is maintained throughout the department
  • Oversee daily activities within the Materials Management operations which includes receiving, kitting, and shipping
  • Ensure sufficient resources are in place to meet demand 
  • Ensure cGMP compliant and lawful execution of all responsibilities
  • Represent the department on audits, issues, and initiatives as required
  • Lead and/or participate in internal GMP inspections when needed
  • Assist in the development of, and adherence to the department budget
  • Provide input to the evaluation of individual contributor performance and the building and sustaining of a high-performance team
  • Proactively working with department manager and the team build and sustain a Great Place to Work
  • Perform or provide oversight to department related project activity that may include investigating, analyzing, formulating possible solutions, documenting processes, training, and communicating results
  • Lead and perform deviations, change control, and corrective / preventive actions within the established Quality management system
  • Administer cycle counts
  • Perform all work activities in a safe and compliant manner according to all Genentech policies, procedures and trainings
  • Receive, identify, quarantine, store, handle, dispense, release, and issue raw materials, starting materials, intermediates, reagents, labels, GMP supplies and packaging materials.
  • Proficient in both DOT & IATA shipments, including applicable certifications
  • Maintain appropriate training for import/export shipping and receiving. Proficient in associated documentation for all import/export activities
  • Ability to create and revise standard operating (SOP) reverent to department processes
  • Perform department related project activity that may include investigating, analyzing, formulating possible solutions, documenting processes, and communicating results
  • Using manual labor, pallet jacks, and forklifts, move product and both GMP and non-GMP supplies to and from storage locations and delivery trucks 
  • Assorted additional duties as assigned

  • What You Will Bring?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience preferred
  • 9+ years of industry experience with a minimum of 3 years of relevant GMP Warehousing/Distribution experience, and a minimum of 3 years of progressively increasing leadership responsibility
  • In-depth working knowledge of inventory management principles and distribution and cold-chain practices
  • DOT, IATA, international shipment expertise
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated history of exceptional people development skills
  • Extensive experience with integrated inventory management databases such as SAP
  • Ability to work in a highly cooperative, process improvement / LEAN, and team environment
