Laboratory Operations Specialist (2191-U-689-FAC)

ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases, initially cancer.  Our products are being designed to herald the transition of adoptive cell therapy from a hospital based treatment to outpatient therapy, like most other cancer treatments.

ArsenalBio is seeking a Laboratory Operations Specialist to support our growing Operations Team in Hayward, CA. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Lab Operations, this position will support our Scientists by assisting with general lab tasks to enable an efficient laboratory environment for the ArsenalBio team. This role will also be expected to support the offices at Hayward as an extension of the Workplace Services team.

What you will do:

  • Laboratory Management:
  • Anticipate and understand the needs of scientific teams in order to proactively seek ways to streamline lab processes/workflows (space-planning, new capex procurement, etc). 
  • Be a steward of Lab cleanliness and General Safety (monitoring adherence to best practices)
  • Manage and support the disposal of biohazardous/tissue culture solid/liquid waste
  • Manage Lab Service vendors (Lab Coats, Biowaste, Lab gasses, etc). 
  • Conduct regular maintenance of lab equipment following SOPS (Glassware, RODI, Waterbath, Incubators, Biosafety Cabinets, etc). 
  • Partner with the Equipment Team to coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Support the onboarding of scientific staff into the Hayward laboratories
  • Carry out other responsibilities as needed to support an efficient lab environment. 

  • Workplace Services:
  • Manage vendor relationships for standard supplies (Lunch, snacks, office supplies)
  • Interface with external vendors and contractors to manage the facility (i.e. office furniture, janitorial services)
  • Support access control/security efforts (access badge program and security cameras) 
  • Office supply inventory management 
  • Assist with organizing office social events

  • What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in biology or related field or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of relevant lab or lab operations experience 
  • Experience maintaining basic lab equipment
  • Experience working in a BSL2 lab
  • Experience handling Hazardous Waste (CA CUPA Haz Waste certification a plus)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite
  • Great attention to detail, resourceful, highly organized
  • Must be highly collaborative, team-oriented, and an effective communicator - both verbal and written
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge on the job 
  • Ability to demonstrate productivity, and deliver high-quality results
  • Ability to multi-task as needed in a fast-paced, startup environment
