ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases, initially cancer.  Our products are being designed to herald the transition of adoptive cell therapy from a hospital based treatment to outpatient therapy, like most other cancer treatments.

ArsenalBio’s Information Systems team has a shared vision to drive technology solutions and services that enable scientific innovation and advanced patient care for our people, our partners, and our patients. As a member of ArsenalBio’s IS team, we have the opportunity and privilege to deliver technology solutions and services to teams supporting our gene therapy drug development programs. We are currently seeking a qualified, highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Director of IT Operations. The role reports into the Senior Director of Information Systems.

The Director of IT Operations will play a key leadership, people management, and individual contributor role in defining and leading all IT infrastructure, networking, and helpdesk programs scale across multiple sites. The role can be based out of our South San Francisco or our East Bay facility.  

Our ideal candidate will be strong technically and can drive an IT and infrastructure roadmap as well as build and lead a team. They will have experience in modern SaaS/Cloud-based infrastructures in which they have scaled, led, and secured an ecosystem of applications with proactive strategies and roadmaps while inspiring vision. They have a strategic mindset and operate as a leader that influences the business and company IT strategy. 

What You Will Do:

  • Set the mission and vision of the IT organization to foster a customer-centric oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques.
  • Be a trusted advisor that builds and maintains relationships with other leaders to develop a keen understanding of business needs; ensures efficient delivery of IT services to meet those needs.
  • Build a multi-year roadmap and key performance indicators that are well understood and anticipate emerging needs.
  • Lead and drive key IT Operations projects around IT infrastructure, networking & Service Management. 
  • Experience in managing all aspects of a formal project and ability to successfully drive projects to completion on time and budget. 
  • Develop and drive the Infrastructure, Networking, and Helpdesk functions and lead the buildout of several office and manufacturing facilities. 
  • Collaborate with, and report to, the Head of Security on all things related to Information Security.
  • Be a strong supporter of IT Security projects, goals, vision and operations; partnering closely with the Head of Security in various levels of decision making.
  • Own the IT “People Strategy” that will forecast the future skills needed to acquire and develop an IT workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills and competencies that balance between growing agility and ensuring the core IT functions are reliable and efficient.
  • Foster a culture of trusted partnership, service, and continuous improvement
  • Have excellent attention to detail, communication and team organization skills. 

  • What You Will Bring:

  • Solid background in cloud-first environments and building cloud-native platforms in AWS
  • Success in using both standard methodologies, such as IT service management practices based on ITIL, as well as agile philosophies like DevOps.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-moving technology landscape and keep pace with the latest thinking and new technologies.
  • Track record of building and effectively managing large and diverse teams, and putting the appropriate processes and infrastructure in place to drive growth within a successful tech company.
  • Demonstrable ability to formulate a high-level strategy, then convert it into a tactical plan and execute on that plan.
  • “Hands-on” operating style and approach but a view towards the future and willingness to invest in people development and in developing an organization that will support a large company.
  • Proven experience as a business-focused, credible leader in a fast-growing technology company
  • Understanding of CSV framework, 21 CFR Part 11 compliance and GMP environments. 
  • A strong working knowledge of network architecture, both traditional on-premise and cloud technology (AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Strong experience supporting a diverse set of SaaS applications.
  • Experience working with outside audit firms and IT consulting firms.
  • Communication and collaboration skills with an ability to effectively manage and influence stakeholders in a matrix environment.
  • Good judgment and decision making ability appropriate for the organization.
  • Results-driven approach, ability to take initiative and ownership to accomplish work.
  • Strive for continuous improvement and embrace innovative ideas in daily work.

  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 15+ years of relevant technical experience, including 8+ years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data center operations, security, disaster preparedness/recovery, incident response and mitigation, capacity planning
  • Strong understanding of SOX (Sarbanes Oxley), GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11
